We begin anew once again in 2017! My intention as I begin 2017 is to heal physically and I know that includes healing on all levels (physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually). This means becoming more connected to Self. I’ve already begun my journey with this intention and am renewed in my style of yoga teaching. For over seven years now I have taught an invigorating Vinyasa Flow and still LOVE LOVE LOVE that style and practice it 5-6 days a week. However, I am being guided to teach more soothing gentle yoga to the masses. It’s truly aligning with my goal of healing mySelf as assist in healing others. Aiding in this goal, I’ve added several new classes to my schedule all about gentle yoga.
Also, next week I will begin teaching gentle yoga at the YMCA in Smithfield, RI: Monday evenings 5:30-6:30p.m. (starting Jan. 23rd) and Tuesday’s 12:15-1p.m. (starting Jan. 31st). As always, I continue to offer Energy Healings in addition to Reiki & IET Certifications to align you back to center and your Divine Light. Let’s welcome 2017 and see ALL possibilities as possible!
“The desire to know the Divine intimately has grown ever stronger this year, and with it has come a commitment to love relentlessly. Being upset is now a driving call to love more deeply. Being uncomfy in my body is simply a wakeup call to examine where I am blocking love. Being anything less than joyful is a reminder that I’m not in truth at the moment. I’ve embraced, more deeply than ever this year, the power of being present to my heart and my joy in order to turn everything around in a heartbeat.” ~ Ann Albers
Don’t forget I have a new facebook page that I would love if you could check out and “Like”! 🙂

Inspire You Article
Live Life in Your Flow
Gentle Yoga was exactly what I needed today. Much like this happy and serene kitty to the right of this article, today in Savasana after a lovely gentle yoga flow (led by the amazing Barbara Fetta, The Yoga Workshop) I was brought to rolling hills of beautiful yellow flowers.
So much serenity. So many flowers. Savasana took me to these rolling hills that filled with me peace, butterflies and fairies. Fairies repaired my aura; sewing it up to whatever I let leak out. Healing energy was sent to my kidneys from my guide. And a message that this year is a year of healing for me (as I intended it to be) and that entails DOing my light, sharing my healing gifts as well as experiencing them.
It was a confirmation of how amazing I felt last Tuesday night when I taught gentle yoga at the amazing and beautiful new ‘The Woods Yoga Studio’. Slowing the style of yoga I teach down allowed me to say things that come in as divine messages for the class. Immediately after gentle yoga I facilitated a meditation as well. It was all divinely perfect and I felt energized. That’s when you know you’re in the right path in that moment. When it feels good to you! It’s your Bliss Compass.
I’d like to share how important taking time for you in meditation truly is. Every time I slack on meditation I feel it. The effects start subtle so it takes a moment to ground and figure out what was missing (again). A daily meditation practice is so simple, yet powerful for the mind, body and soul. I urge you to take that time for you. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is.
You can become more susceptible to the outer worlds lower frequency stuff without meditation. You may recognize the lower stuff occurring, but may not feel like dealing with it or think it will just ‘go away’. Instead it then often gets repressed within us till we deal with it. It will start as a whisper and then get loud and louder till we finally take notice. It’s easier to deal with the whispers instead of the screams.
In a recent meditation with the deities Zeus and Athena on Mt. Olympus, led by Athena with Sage Goddess during the full moon last week, I was tasked by Zeus to meditate every day for 10 days. In those 10 days Zeus and Athena would be present in some fashion to assist in healing me. I agreed, as my main intention was to heal. I knew I had slacked off once again and felt icky effects creeping in. I would still do mini-connections every day, self-chakra clearings and do Energy Healing but it wasn’t the same as taking self-care and meditating for my soul.
Amazingly (and somehow not so surprisingly), not even seven days in to my daily meditations and already I feel sooo much clearer, stronger, empowered and uplifted. I know at this point that the 10 day agreement was meant to get me back on track and dedicated to a daily meditation practice for myself. Not just 10 days but every day.
We must set this time aside for our own wellbeing. Our soul is what animates this human body we are in. Connecting more deeply to our soul (our true Self) is made more easily with meditation and gentle yoga practices. This connection heals us on deeper levels than we can comprehend. The mind, body and soul align more perfectly. The possibilities become possible again. They are endless. We can hear our intuition better. We follow guidance with more ease. We avoid that which isn’t healthy for our soul more easily. We can take the ups and downs with more ease and grace. We live life in flow.
When I take a gentle yoga class and meditate regularly I am more within my power. Other people’s stuff does not penetrate my aura. I am strong once again. As I stand strong in my power: grounded, aligned and connected; balance is my constant. I can accept me for me and be my authentic true self without judgment or fear of judgment. It’s just about being our light. Coming from where we are in every present moment.
And since teaching yoga and meditation, as well as offering Energy Healings are my passions, whenever I teach yoga or give an energy session I am likewise empowered as I empower. As I give, I receive. I am energized, not depleted. It’s amazing!
I feel back to MY center. So you, too, can feel and do the same. As you practice daily meditations and perhaps even gentle yoga, you find and follow your passions. You walk in your flow with life. Share your gifts, and you receive gifts. As you give, you receive. The flow of life.

I hope this message finds you well. I’m not sure if you remember me. I took the Reiki 1 level class with you back in 2012 with my Mom. Since then I have been practicing Reiki on myself. Now I feel more comfortable in this present time to offer this beautiful energy healing to others, which is the reason for my contacting you.
I am offering Reiki to students at my campus but it will be in short 20 min sessions where they will sit in a chair. I do not recall the techniques for this when I took the class with you. I would like advice on what areas of the body I should focus on. This will be from 9 am-1 pm. I have never done Reiki for that long. Is there any other advice you may have for me?
In addition, I feel ready to sign up for the Reiki level 2 in the New Year. Please let me know when you will be offering this next. I look forward to your response and thank you in advance for any guidance you may provide to me.
Of course I remember you! My first (and so far only) Mother-Daughter team. I still love that you two did it together. A beautiful connection.
Reiki is very intuitive all on its own. Know that no matter how you do it, your intention is powerful and the intention is healing for the highest and best good of all. So it will definitely go to where it needs to go. That being said, I practice Reiki healings by beginning at the Crown Chakra (top of the head) and work my way down through the Chakras a quick Chakra recap as a refresher can be found here: http://maggiesbliss.com/offerings/chakras/). I spend as much time as feels right for each of the 7 main chakras, then may take time on shoulders, knees and feet as called. This can be done in a chair as well for sure.
For a short chair Reiki session, I’ve done 10 minutes JUST on the crown chakra during psychic fairs. I can send the energy where it needs to go throughout the body and the intelligent energy force of Reiki will always go where it needs for the highest and best good of all. For 20 minutes you can do a little more. You might want to place hands on Crown Chakra, Third Eye, Throat, shoulders, heart…can bend down for all chakras and work from behind or in front. Then can place hands on knees and feet for grounding. It’s all about listening to your intuition and going where guided. To finish the session, swipe top to bottom as usual to send stuff down to the earth for transmutation and cutting any cords that may have attached to you during the session.
Please do let me know if I need to clarify a bit more! Sounds like you’re going to have an amazing time doing this. The energy is fantastic. Be sure to keep yourself clear and call in your guides as usual prior to energy healing each person. 🙂
All you have to do is surrender and the Reiki will do the rest for the highest and best good always. Be sure to call on your guides and angels before each session and sever cords and send down to the Earth any icky energy for transmutation at the end. Then that night, even if you’re tired, take a shower to cleanse your aura and body. And if you can, sage/smudge. 🙂
I am offering a Reiki II certification January 21st if you are interested. I was debating doing it on Sunday, but set it for Saturday for now and am adding another Reiki II in March. Reiki II gives you the Long Distance Healing Symbol and an upgrade in your attunement/connection to the awesome energy. Here’s some info as a reminder: http://maggiesbliss.com/trainingscertifications/reikicertifications/. The class be held in my new home and healing space in Lincoln, RI. Please do let me know if this interests you. Looking forward to seeing you again!
Yoga Pose of the Month
One-Legged King Pigeon Pose: Eka Pada Rajakapotasana
Pigeon I & II: Kapotasana I & II
1st & 2nd photos of Maggie Anderson taken by Connor O’Hara

Pigeon pose is one of my most favorite yoga poses. It’s wonderful to open the hips, inner and outer thighs and one of my most requested poses to instruct during yoga classes. As a wonderful hip opener, this is a beautiful pose to release blockages and emotions often repressed or locked in our hips. When in the resting variation of the pose (my favorite, shown below) we can go inward, release and let go of all that no longer serves us.
Full physical benefits of this pose are: Increases external ranges of motion of femur in hip socket; Lengthens hip flexors; Prepares body for backbends and seated postures; Stretches the thighs, groins and psoas, abdomen, chest and shoulders, and neck; Stimulates the abdominal organs and groin areas; Opens the hips, shoulders and chest; helps Urinary disorders.
Directions on how to come into the pose:
Begin in Downward Facing Dog. Bring your right knee forward to the back of your right wrist; at the same time angle your right shin under your torso and bring your right foot to the front of your left knee. The outside of your right shin will now rest on the floor. Slowly slide your left leg back, straightening the knee and descending the front of the thigh to the floor. Lower the outside of your right buttock to the floor. Position the right heel just in front of the left hip. The right knee can angle slightly to the right, outside the line of the hip. Look back at your left leg. It should extend straight out of the hip (and not be angled off to the left), and rotated slightly inwardly, so its mid-line presses against the floor. Exhale and lay your torso down on the inner right thigh for a few breaths. Stretch your arms forward. Then slide your hands back toward the front shin and push your fingertips firmly to the floor. Lift your torso away from the thigh. Lengthen the lower back by pressing your tailbone down and forward; at the same time, and lift your pubis toward the navel. Roll your left hip point toward the right heel, and lengthen the left front groin. If you can maintain the upright position of your pelvis without the support of your hands on the floor, bring your hands to the top rim of your pelvis. Push heavily down. Against this pressure, lift the lower rim of your rib cage. The back ribs should lift a little faster than the front. Without shortening the back of your neck, drop your head back. To lift your chest, push the top of your sternum (at the manubrium) straight up toward the ceiling. Stay in this position for a minute. Then, with your hands back on the floor, carefully slide the left knee forward, then exhale and lift up and back into Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog Pose). Take a few breaths, drop the knees to all-fours on another exhalation, and repeat with the legs reversed for the same length of time.
To come out, release the arms down and straighten the left leg. Switch sides! Gotta have balance! 🙂 Then release the arms down once again, straighten legs. Heel toe your way back in to Mountain pose, palms together for Namaste. Close your eyes and breathe deeply.
When not to do this pose or to modify/Contraindications:
If you have Sacroiliac injury, Ankle injury, Knee injury and/or Tight hips or thighs you will need to modify this pose. The best modification of this pose is to come into Reclining Pigeon pose (aka Eye of the Needle or Dead Pigeon – Supta Rajakapotasana), by resting on your back, crossing one ankle over opposite thigh and bringing knees in towards chest. It’s often difficult to descend the outside of the front-leg hip all the way to the floor. Place a thickly folded blanket underneath the hip for support.
For the full pose, first perform the preliminary leg position described above. Then with your hands braced on the floor in Proud Pigeon, bend the back knee and bring the foot as close to the top of your head as possible (tapping into your Quad/top of thigh stretch). Inhale, stretch the right arm upward; then exhale, bend the elbow, and reach back and grasp the inside of the left foot. After a few breaths, reach back with the left hand and grasp the outside of the foot. Draw the sole of the foot as close as possible to the crown of your head. Hold this position for 30 seconds. Repeat on the second side for the same length of time.
